Swear and Shake

I usually take a few days to assess a bands music; see how much it really impacts me, listen to the lyrics, really take it all in. Well, in this case it took me one day to realize that I was head over heels for this band. It took me just one song to feel that way. I’m so extremely excited to feature Swear and Shake and welcome them onto the site. They are from New York and just released their EP, Extended Play, which has been receiving praises from many. An interview with Swear and Shake is in the works, but since I was so excited about coming across them,  I’d like you all to watch their video, The Light. Enjoy and be sure to check out the rest of their music here.

Aaron and Andrew

I truly love introducing new artists/bands on my site. Being able to show the world the type of music that I find and love is such an honor. When I come across a band that I just cannot get enough of, they end up here. I knew Aaron and Andrew would be the perfect fit on Sounds That Matter. Their music is perfect for any mood you’re in. Their recent release, To Be Brave, is a mix of compelling lyrics, unique arrangements, and harmonies you won’t be able to get enough of. They’re two completely talented individuals who are living out their dream. One of the great things about their music is that no matter how often you listen, you find something new to love each time. What’s inspiring about Aaron and Andrew is that they both strive to write lyrics that truly come from their hearts. Falling in love with an artist’s music is simple; I hope you enjoy these two.

Here is their song, Rescue Me.

Victoria Clemmons

I would think that among all of the brilliant female vocalists that are in the spotlight these days, it would be hard to get any attention, but when I came across Victoria Clemmons I actually assumed that she was just as popular as the ladies today. When I saw that she was fairly new on the scene, I was speechless. Her voice is one of the strongest I’ve heard in a long time. I’m so honored to even have the opportunity to introduce her to those of you who aren’t familiar with her work. Though she only has one song available to the public to listen to (the EP is in the works right now), her talent is a prime example of why I created this website in the first place.

Take just a few minutes and listen to her song, Back to Love.

Stay Golden

Not too long ago, I posted an interview I did with Stay Golden, an up and coming band from Chicago, Illinois. Lately, they have been getting a ton of attention by many due to a video they released via YouTube covering “Oh, Nastalgia” orginally done by Patrick Stump. I’m blown away by the amount of creativity and talent it took to make this video possible, so I thought I would share it for all of you to watch.

Here is Matt Ayo from Stay Golden singing his own version of, “Oh, Nastalgia.”

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

We are almost to Friday and I figured we all might need a little pick me up to get us through the day. One perfect song to do this is called “Home” by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. A fantastic trio of musicians from Los Angeles, California led by vocalist, Alex Ebert. Enjoy the tune below to get your morning off to the right start.

Those Mockingbirds

When you hear of a band that’s only been on the scene for a year, you might question their talent. Have they been around long enough to attract attention? Have they had enough time to practice and become a solid band? Those Mockingbirds are a band that you would answer “yes” to those questions. Forming in early 2010, they have attracted a rising fan base and continue to turn heads. Members Adam Bird, Tory Daines, Dan Kreiner, Kevin Walters, and Rob Fitzgerald released their debut EP titled “No Symmetry” in the spring and they have just released their newest single, “The Chain,” which happens to be a Fleetwood Mac cover. It’s dangerous territory covering a Fleetwood Mac song, but they do it with grace and it’s damn good.

Here is “The Chain” by Those Mockingbirds. If you love the song and can’t get enough of it, follow the link provided below which allows you to download the song for free.

Katie Gavin

There are a ton of artists in the world working hard to build their dream job.  A ton of those artists are on YouTube, covering hit songs on the radio or singing their originals. One of those artists is named Katie Gavin, a  seventeen year old girl from Chicago who has the power in her voice to withstand many singers on the radio today. This girl holds more talent in her pinky finger than a lot of the singers that become famous from YouTube. Below are two of her songs for you to enjoy. One is a cover you may all recognize and the other is one of her original songs.
